Tourism and Leisure Services 2006-2012

People have more and more free time and, consequently, the demand for leisure services is on the rise, both in Finland and internationally.

Leisure services include tourism, sports, well-being, cultural and other similar services.

The international competitiveness and value-added potential of leisure services can be boosted through new service concepts and customer-oriented development. Finnish leisure services, tourism in particular, have much international growth potential.

The Tourism and Leisure Services R&D programme was launched on 20 October 2006. The programme concentrates on encouraging R&D activities by companies producing leisure services. Development focuses on new service concepts, new ways of producing services and the creation of new spatial concepts, such as those utilising virtual technology.
